Georgia Horses help kids, help the Children of St. Jude.
Woodstock, GA (ContentDesk) September 15, 2004 -- Falcon Ridge Stables in Woodstock, GA will be hosting a charity event this October, to benefit St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
Although, St. Jude is in Memphis, Tennessee, a child with Cancer in Georgia or in any other state with a rare disease needing extensive, specialized treatment would be sent to ST. Jude.
This event is unique in that it allows adults, children and animals to work together to earn donations towards helping Children with deadly diseases seek treatment.
St. Jude never asks families lacking insurance to pay, so this money will go directly towards children in critical condition. The event, to be held Saturday, October 23, at Falcon Ridge Stables, is called "Saddle Up for St. Jude.
It is designed so Equine enthusiasts can gather to ride a 5 mile trail or compete in jumps offs, and other equine events to earn money from their sponsors.
The trail portion opens at 8 am.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided for participating riders.
There will be many Prizes for riders earning the most money for the children of St. Jude. The rider with the top earnings for St.
Jude, will win full Custom Chaps from the Horse and Hound Tack Shop, Chastain - an $800 value!The event is open to riders of all disciplines, with some performing demonstrations, including carriage driving, dressage, and medieval horsemanship, along with western reining, roping, cutting and barrel racing.
The feature of the day will be a Jump off for speed, where spectators can bid on their favorite horse and rider to win a donation for St. Jude, and a prize for the bidder.
There will also be a silent auction featuring fantastic items donated from artists, restaurants, shops and various area businesses.
A raffle will also be held and will include prizes for kids and adults, as well as equine products for the riders.The event will be a festival, open to the public for a $2.00 donation per person to St.
Jude. Activity tickets will cost .50 cents per ticket for St. Jude, and each activity will require 1-4 tickets.
Gates open at 10:00 am.
Local businesses, artisans and craftsman have been invited to set up booths for the day to display their items as well.The children of Falcon Ridge will have game and activity booths for patrons, like decorating crafts or a cookie, face painting, bobbing for apples, a candy walk, paint a pumpkin and even moon walks.
There will also be carriage rides, and of course, pony and horse rides, and our very special, Medieval Princess rides, where a child can sit atop a handsome steed with a beautiful medieval Princess and have their photo taken.
Falcon Ridge Stables, a Hunter/Jumper show barn also featuring a therapeutic riding program, hopes to make this an annual event for Children of St. Jude.
This will be contingent upon Cherokee Countys decision regarding horses access to trails, so a petition regarding the Right to ride Act will be circulated.
Cherokee Co is attempting to deny horses access to trails.
Trails are a vital part of a horses mental and physical conditioning.
Horses have been mans greatest allies in building civilization, yet their needs continue to be discounted.
Falcon Ridge and all the Equestrians of Cherokee Co. intend to fully support the Right to ride act, and actively pursue all avenues towards securing Equine use of the trails behind JJ Biello Park and other Cherokee County trails.
The equine industry is the second most profitable agricultural endeavor in the state of Georgia.
